Three-dimensional simulation of the combustion process in an oil-fired furnace
In this paper the three-dimensional numerical simulation of the fuel combustion, flue gas flow and radiation heat transfer in an oil fired furnace is presented. The mathematical model of oil-combustion is fully empirical, based on experimental data. The flue gas flow model is described by partial differential equations of mass, momentum and energy conservation. The simplification of zone method is used for radiation heat transfer modelling. Evaluation of numerical discretization is based on the control volume approach. Sensitivity analysis of the grid refinement in the range of 5000 to 17500 control volumes is carried out.
