Cooperation between the Croatian and the Polish sea fisheries started in the sixties. It was concerned with the practical training of fishing personnel at the Faculty of Marine Fisheries, Univ. of Agriculture in Olsztyn and Szcecin, aimed at meeting requirements of Adriatic Sea fisheries, as well at the exchange of experiences and specialists in the field of fishing technique. The first joint studies in fishing techniques date back to the end of 1974, when at the Model Research of Agriculture Univ. at Insko, just established in the year, the testing of two-boat pelagic trawls designed for fishing sardines and other small pelagic fish in the Adriatic Sea was performed. The studies were carried on based on the programme up to 1976. They resulted among others, in doctoral thesis of P. Cetinić and many elaborated two-boat pelagic trawl construction which have been used since then in the Adriatic fisheries.
