Catalyst poisoning in the Benzene Hydrogenation
The kinetic of benzene hydrogenation and poisoning of Ni-Al2O3 catalyst was studied in isothermal differential reactor. It was found that activity of catalyst decreases linearly with increasing amount of poison until greater part of the catalyst has been deactivated. The effect of poison up to region of inflection can be represented by an equation a=1-a GT and the poisoning curve indicate homogeneous adsorption of poison. The rate of catalyst deactivation in hydrogenation of benzene can be represented by first order kinetics, and activation energy for deactivation is 5.32 kJ/mol.
