Repeatability and reproducibility analysis of pinpointing buried mines by metal detectors
The article analyses the repeatability and reproducibility (R&R) of pinpointing buried mines. Corresponding data were obtained by means of round robin mine detection trials which explicitly took into account different operators (deminers), devices (metal detectors) and targets (buried mines and soil in their vicinity). The targets were characterised by the following parameters: type of mine, depth and typo of soil in which the mine was buried. R&R analysis yields a quantitative estimation of the pinpointing process variability in given conditions and describes to which extent the conducted detection processes were consistent or uncertain. The aim of the R&R analysis of pinpointing buried mines is to contribute to the general analysis an assessment of mine detection reliability.
