The ship integrated system plays an increasingly important role in the ship automation process ranging from propulsion and power distribution to cargo handling. The complexity of these systems varies: from a simple alarm system to highly complex surveillance and control systems. One such system consisting of several local processing control units is dealt with in this paper.
