Tolerance to shiftwork assessed by means of The Way of Life Questionnaire

The aim of the study was to determine the factor structure of the questionnaire and to evaluate the relationships between some of the tolerance to shiftwork measures (health, sleep problems) with individual difference measures which can be used to predict tolerance to shiftwork. Subjects were 604 male oil-refinery workers working in rapidly rotating shift system. The negative correlation between Night shift - and Morning shift tolerance scores, as well as different associations of shiftworker's characteristics with tolerance measures, indicate that tolerance to shiftwork may not be a general dimension.
