THE CHARACTERIZATION OF SERPENTINITE FROM LJESKOVAC LOCALITY
Serpentinites are dark green to black and look very much like snakeskin. They are often quite coarse-grained, and green serpentinite crystals are usually easy to see. Ljeskovac is the village in south part of Sisak-Moslavina county in Croatia, just few kilometers from Bosnia and Herzegovina border. The characterization of Ljeskovac serpentinites was done by X-ray diffraction, atomic absorption spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. In accordance with results of chemical and phase analysis which shows that antigorite is the main mineral constituent and magnesium oxide is main compound one can concluded that serpentinite from Ljeskovac locality can be potentional raw material for ceramics powders production.
