Knowledge Management at Tourist Destinations

Appropriate knowledge and ability of persons as the decisive component of their operative and creative potentials, as well as continuous improvement, are not only the problem of the individual but principally of the system of business (tourism) and society (tourist destinations) in which they live and operate. In this sense the appearance of the need for an economic and systematic micro and macro leverage and monitoring of the total effects linked to human knowledge. Different sectors of tourism, such as accommodation, recreational holidays, entertainment, various experiences and other attractions and services, require diverse vocations that demand interdisciplinary knowledge and different levels of skill. Besides, the tourism system as an operatively intense activity, impinges upon numerous other activities - agriculture, commerce, passenger traffic, entrepreneurship and local government, which in the end enriches the differences and interdependence of entrepreneurship knowledge and possibilities. Precisely because of this, knowledge management is increasingly soliciting as a key factor of business success, particularly in tourism. The paper is a discourse on science and knowledge as fundamental resources of development, and knowledge management with special emphasis on creating networks of knowledge within the tourist destinations.
