Upper Cretaceous Deposits of the Požeška gora Mt. (Croatia)
Upper Cretaceous deposits of the Požeška gora Mts. (Croatia) formed as the result of interaction between tectonic movements and volcanism and sedimentation in conditions characteristic for moderately deep to deep sea environments. The uninterrupted stratigraphic succession starts with breccia and coarse-grained sandstone and continues with laminated siltstone and sandstone, lamellar limestone to reefal limestone sediments. Granite, granophyre and rhyolite were resedimented into Upper Cretaceous, Campanian– Maastrichtian breccias and sandstones. Folded structures have an E– W strike, although the bedding poles of the Cretaceous beds of the Požeška gora Mts. are scattered due to the older deformations.
