Torque-Ripple Minimization in Switched Reluctance Motors – A Set Theoretic Approach
We present a solution to torque ripple minimization in switched reluctance motors (SRM) based on set invariance theory. We start from a piecewise affine approximation (PWA) of the overall torque characteristics over rotor angle – phase currents space and derive a PWA motor model. Within it we also take into account finite bandwidth of the phase current control loops. Using the PWA model and invariant sets theory we find the minimal bounds within which the torque ripple can be constrained for given range of speeds and torque references, both for motoring and generating mode. We show how to compute a lookup-table-like torque control law which is used to compute the phase currents references based on the motor state and the reference torque.
