Prognostic Significance of Paroxysmal Ventricular Tachycardia in the Setting of Acute Myocardial Infarction
The purpose of our study was to analyse clinical characteristics and prognostic significance of early and late paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia (PVT) in patients (pts) treated for acute myocardial infarction (AMI). By retrospective analysis of 436 pts with AMI, admitted to the Department of Internal Medicine, General Hospital, Bjelovar, Croatia, we established the number of pts who developed PVT only during the first 24 hours (early PVT) and the number of pts that have developed PVT later (late PVT). Clinical characteristics and mortality rates were analysed and compared. We did not found statistically significant differences in mortality rates in pts with early and late PVT as shown in some earlier studies.
