Nonwoven fabric acoustical properties

There is a long tradition in using textile materials in acoustical applications as a noise control elements. Here nonwovens are of special interest as its nonhomogeunus, randomly orientated, structure reduces sound absorption frequency dependence usually found in woven textile materials. In the paper results of sound absorption coefficient determinate according to ISO 10534-1:1996 procedure for a set of specimens from Regeneracija Zabok are presented. The presented results includes specimens currently produced for automotive application, carpet underlay, furniture, insulation of pipes of floor heating, as well as nose insulation . Future applications such as design of a multilayered noise control elements are prepared.
