Rudist-bearing limestones of the Adriatic-Dinaric carbonate platform during the Late Cretaceous (Cenomanian-Maastrichtian)

Rudist fossil assemblage, which have been studied from a type localities of the Late Cretaceous Adriatic-Dinaric carbonate platform, give the opportunity to analyze the lateral and vertical relationship between rudist congregations and depositional environments. Rare hippuritid individuals occupied relatively deeper platform conditions along with lenticular-discoidal perforate benthic foraminifers. Towards shallower inner part of the platform densely packed extensive radiolitid congregations or ichtyosarcolitids-neocaprinids rudstones-floatstones are formed. They shared settings with agglutinated and porcelaneous benthic foraminifers.
