Wine industry is a traditional industry in Croatia. It is equally developed in coast region and in inland as well. Croatia has many wines of high quality. Quality wines have important role in tourism supply. However, Croatian wines are poorly positioned in international market, precisely European market. In fact, wine export is far under potentials. The aim of this paper is to detect main problems of Croatian wine business, and to offer strategies for improve competitiveness. It is evident that Croatian vineries produce very small quantities of wine which is serious obstacle of export. Other obstacles are low productivity and slow accepting of new technologies. In searching for solution, experiences of other countries will be considered in most scientific way. Wine clusters are common strategy for raising competitiveness, so in this paper the optimal model of wine cluster in Croatia will be presented.
