The quality of voice in children with cochlear implants
THE QUALITY OF VOICE IN CHILDREN WITH COCHLEAR IMPLANTS During rehabilitation special attention has to be paid to voice because it is an integral part of speech communication and its most important element. Developing listening skills and auditory control through rehabilitation we modify acoustic features of voice itself. This paper shows the results of the acoustic analysis of voice in preschool children with cochlear implants. The articulation of the vowel “ A” has been analyzed after it had been recorded by using microphones with oral and nasal characteristics. The frequency values for the first, the second and the third formant has been observed and compared to the duration of the rehabilitation. The changes have been confirmed by statistical data and by univariant and multivariant testing of differences. It has been made the comparison of values to the corresponding values in children with normal hearing. Due to rehabilitation we change positively the values of voice parameters, therefore we increase the quality of voice and in this way the quality of life.
