Nanoparticles of Clinoptilolite for Better UV Protection of Cotton Knitted Fabrics
Nanoparticles of natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) applied on textiles are following the tendency for new textile applications as the materials for human performance, such are medical, protective and sports. In last few years these tendencies led to rapid growth of different protective finishes, material modification and application of nanoparticles, as well. Clinoptilolite is natural framework alumosilicate having a cage-like structure, consisting of high portion of SiO2 (60-67 %) with characteristic pore and cavity structure. Applied on textile it increases material active surface area and scatter the light as well. In this paper clinoptilolite was applied on cotton knitted fabrics in different treatments for achieving the material with high level UV protection. Cotton knitted fabrics were treated with optimal concentration of FWA as well. The high UPF results obtain on transmission spectrophotometer Cary 50, Varian according to AATCC TM 183-200 confirmed that clinoptilolite has important role in achieving the high level UV protection of textiles.
