War Trauma : Influence on Individuals and Community

The care for mental health in Croatia before war was highly institutionalized. By the beginning of the war it could not saturate new needs. Rigid hierachy structure with poor possibilities of movements in a new condition could not adapt itself. In this group the first who rwacted were psychotherapists and psychologists. New group of clients-numerous psychotraumatised-demanded new approach and new organisation of the institutions for the old system was not able to give apprpriate help. In the article there is presented the dynamic of changes and present ways of the development of the mantal health protection service in Croatia.
