The EU Strategy for Growth and Jobs: Novelties of the Renewed Lisbon Strategy
The unemployment represents one of the major economic and social problems faced by the contemporary society. Many countries of the European Union (EU) have been troubled by high unemployment rates, which has been recognised as a problem for achieving economic and social welfare and translated into creating legislative and institutional framework that will promote greater employment and social cohesion. The purpose of this chapter of the book is to analyse the European Employment Strategy (EES) and its novel governance arrangements which may represent the beginning of a substantial shift in both the European social policymaking and the European Union governance.
