Natur und Gott: Das wirkungsgeschichtliche Verhältnis Schellings und Baaders
The theme of this work is the historical and philosophical relevance of the relationship between Schelling und Baader. The author demonstrates how Baaders thought, along with that of thinkers like F.H. Jacobi and Fr. Schlegel, contributed to form the positive counterbalance to the dominant transcendental and subjectivist strain in Schellings philosophical development. In three parts, the author elaborates I) Schellings and Baaders earliest intellectual encounter in the attempt to establish a dynamic philosophy of nature as opposed to the ideal of Newtonian mechanical physics ; II) their personal acquaintance and mutual endeavors to achieve a philosophical interpretation of J. Böhmes visionary insights on God, nature and the origin of evil, as well as the demise of this unique philosophical friendship and the real reasons for the enigmatic reversal Schellings philosophy following the publication of the treatise on human liberty ; III) the continued preoccupation of both thinkers with eachothers attempts to formulate an historical, positive, or religious philosophy in the later development of their systems of thought.
