Radish Mosaic
Radish Mosaic Virus (RaMV) was originally found and identified in the United States in 1939 and again in 1964. Since then, it has been found commonly in central and southern Europe but only occasionally at a few locations in North America, Asia and Africa. Serious yield losses were recorded in turnip and Chinese radish in Europe and eastern Russia, respectively. Two main RaMV strains occur, American (neo-type) and European. These do not differ much in host range and symptom expression but clearly do differ serologically. In naturally and mechanically infected plants, mainčy foliar symptoms have been reported, Cultivated hosts include radish, turnip, Chinese cabbage, winter turnip rape, rutabaga or swede, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, perennial kale and wild radish (Raphanus raphanastrum L.).
