Haptoglobin concentration in dairy cows with subclinical mastistis
During this research, the concentration of acute phase protein haptoglobin was determine in the blood and milk of cows with subclinical mastitis. The first group consisted of 20 cows with supclinical mastitis, and the second group consisted of 10 healthy cows. Blood samples were taken from all cows in order to determine the haptoglobin concentration, and milk samples were taken for bacteriological test and somatic cell count. Statistical evidence, shows that there is a significant difference between the haptoglobin concentration in the blood and milk of cows with subclinical mastitis in comparison to the healthy cows. Based on the results obtained, we can conclude that the detection of the haptoglobin level in the blood serum and milk is a valuable indicator in discovering subclinical mastitis.
