Influence of foliar fertilizers Albatros sprint, Albatros standard and Albatros hydro upon yield and quality of sugar beet root

The aim of the trials set up on eutric cambisol in northwestern Croatia during the period 2003-2005 was to investigate the influence of foliar application of fertilizers Albatros sprint, Albatros standard and Albatros hydro upon yield and quality of sugar beet root. Albatros fertilizers were applied at rates of 1.5-3 g/l water in eight trial treatments, at the 8th, 12th, 16th and 20th leaf stages. Yield and quality of sugar beet root were significantly affected by the trial year. In the three-year average, foliar application of Albatros fertilizers increased root yield by 0.82 t/ha (1.30%) to 4.64 t/ha (7.37%), and sugar yield by 0.19 t/ha (2.26%) to 0.76 t/ha (9.06%) compared to the control, but significant differences between treatments were recorded only for sugar yield in 2003. In all treatments, application of Albatros fertilizers led also to an absolute increase in digestion by 0.01-0.41%, but this increase was not statistically significant.
