Effect of selenium dose on mercury distribution and retention in tissues of suckling rats
The preliminary investigation of the interaction between mercury (as chloride) and selenium (as sodium selenite) in young suckling Wistar rats shows that equimolar doses of both selenium and mercury are necessary to produce maximum binding of mercury by plasma and minimum retention of mercury by the kidney, brain and erythrocytes.
