CORRIDOR Vc THROUGH BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA – SECTION FROM MOSTAR TO THE CROATIAN BORDERLINE
Corridor Vc is the name of the transversal European traffic route running in the direction North – South and connecting Eastern Europe with the Adriatic, bearing the international mark E-73. Corridor represents the axis of the road and traffic infrastructure of Eastern Europe. Beginning of the Corridor is n Hungary (Budapest), continuing through Croatia (Osijek) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo, Mostar), ending in the Croatian Port of Ploce. Present state road network in the Vc Corridor through Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina does not fulfill the present traffic requirements. These roads were constructed numerous years ago and do not have the required system of environmental protection. With the constant traffic volume increase, the present road corridors are becoming a real threat to the ecological systems of areas they pass through. Construction of a highway would decrease traffic load on state roads, thus decreasing pollution in the areas. Implementing the presently known principles of environmental protection on the constructed highway, threat to the environment would be cut to a minimum.
