The Influence of Paper Surface Structure on Optical Dot Gain
In order for better understanding of optical dot gain origin we introduce modified Monte Carlo model of light scattering in paper, started with more realistic description of paper as a scattering medium. In our description, absorption and scattering coefficients of all paper constituents were taken as key function as they contribute in real paper. Due to the fact that paper is a complex medium, for its more realistic depiction it is necessary to involve in calculations its surface structure which was modeled on the basis of micro facets. Depicted phenomena was observed and calculated in transmission and reflection. Agreement of statistical light scattering model in complex substrate with experimental data demonstrates that new method successfully describes regarded phenomena.
