Only when complete evidence is published, can the public and scientific community in Croatia make a fair judgment
The editors of the Croatian Medical Journal (CMJ) invited their readership to comment on a recent incident that brought their editorial freedom into question (1). As a response to that invitation, let me express my opinion. The CMJ editors informed the international community on the incident by publishing facts, questions, answers, views, and interpretations. This is a highly professional approach which can elucidate the position of the editors in the best possible way. I fully support the proposal that the opposite parties (Prof. Slobodan Vukičević, the Dean Prof. Nada Čikeš) formulate, document, and publish their reasons for dissatisfaction with the CMJ and its editors. The other three owners of the journal should voice their suggestions for the resolution of the situation. Only when complete evidence is published (but not unconfirmed statements, lost reports, etc), can the public and scientific community in Croatia make a fair judgment.
