Numerical model for buckling analysis of flexibly connected beam-type structures

This work presents a one-dimensional numerical formulation for buckling analysis of beam-type structures accounting for connection flexibility and warping deformation effects. Equilibrium equations of a 14-degree of freedom beam element are derived by applying linearized virtual work principle. The influence of connection behaviour is introduced in the numerical model by transforming stiffness matrices of a conventional beam element. For this purpose a special transformation matrix is derived.
