Horvatsko-slavjanskie leksikografičeskie kontakty
Croatian-Slavic lexicographic contacts appear on at least five levels: a) Slavic loan words and calques in Croatian dictionaries b) Slavic dictionaries as models in Croatian lexicography c) Slavic languages in Croatian lexicography d) Croatian language in Slavic lexicography e) Linguistic reference literature on Croatian-Slavic lexicographic contacts. The paper focuses on the first and the third point, chronologically singling out the most characteristic examples of Croatian-Slavic lexicographic contacts, whose intensive development dates back to the 14th century. The majority of Slavic calques were introduced into Croatian in the 19th century, while in the 20th century fewer calques were introduced, but more bilingual dictionaries containing Croatian and another Slavic language were published. In the 21st century lexicography will have to cater to new communication needs emerging from closer contacts of Slavic languages in a united Europe. It will also have to keep up with technological advancement that makes electronic dictionaries more accessible and gathering and collecting lexical material easier. This offers hope for the development of firmer Croatian-Slavic lexicographic contacts, and thereby a chance for better understanding of different cultures.
