Dynamics of the lung function in asbestos pleural disease
Asbestosis is illness in proffesional exposed workers induced by inhalation of asbestos dust leaving permanent alterations on lungs parenhim or pleura. In our research lasted ten years we investigated 318 workers with pleural asbestosis by means of anamnestic data, profesional exposed to asbestos, radiological examinations and functional dynamic parameters, which are mandatory in diagnose and following of disease. We found significant decrease values of functional parameters as vital capacity (VC), forced expiratory flow in first second (FEV1), and intermediate expiratory flow (FEF 25-75%). In addition, we investigated prescribed values of functional parameters according to smoking and nonsmoking habits. We found reduction of vital capacity during investigation, particulary after 25 years exposed to asbestos with considerable decrease of vital capacity in smoking workers. Our investigations confirmed that during first 15 years values of vital capacity remains inside 80% of normal values and havn’ t significant in following dynamic of pulmonal function. Individual monitoring is necessary in proffesional exposed workers generating better access to dynamic of pulmonal function in profesional exposed to asbestos.
