The accuracy of rules for prediction of local vibrations in steel ships
In this article the accuracy of rules for prediction of local vibrations in steel ships is confirmed by means of finite element method. Standard formulas are taken from Rules for the construction and classification of steel ships 1976., chapter D., Local Vibrations in Afterbody and Machinery spaces - Tentative rules and in Appendix 2, Diagrams of section moduli and moments of inertia. Computer software's MSC. Patran and Nastran was used for calculation based up on finite element method. Evaluation of rules accuracy was done for different values of moments of inertia for cross sectional area of stiffeners in x and y directions. Mode shapes of panel vibrations are commented at the end.
