Razvoj golfa u hrvatskome turizmu = The development of golf in Croatian tourism

According to this research, as well as according to other research done by the authors of this paper (Bartoluci, 1996 ; Bartoluci and Čavlek, 1998 ; Bartoluci and Slamar, 1999), golf is one of the imperatives of the development of Croatian tourism. However, there exists a question about the number and about the quality of golf centres to be built in Croatia in the next several years, and also about the ways to attract foreign investors to finance such projects, etc. These issues cannot be dealt with without accurate and elaborated studies and calculations. From the economic point of view, on the basis of the researched model of a golf course, it may be concluded that without the accompanying facilities golf is not an investment that is profitable enough. The profitability of golf-related investments is therefore in question for any entrepreneurs. A higher profitability of golf may therefore be obtained at a higher utilization level of all golf-related facilities and activities, accompanied by the increased price of services rendered. Therefore, it may be concluded that the construction of golf facilities in Croatia is necessary in order to develop elite tourism. All the relevant factors should be taken into account. However, the profitability of golf today may be achieved only in the most developed tourist destinations, and there are only several such destinations in Croatia.
