The expert model for the prediction of N- mineralization dynamics

In the development of appropriate N fertilization strategies it is important to predict accurately net N-mineralization dynamics. The expert model for the estimation of intensity of N-mineralization is a modification of the PAPRAN model (Seligman and van Keulen, 1981). The model is adapted to Microsoft Excel program so it could be used more inclusively for the estimation of the mineralization intensity. The model considers the pool of the fresh organic N (crop residues and biomasses) and stabile organic N pool (humus). Mineralization of organic matter in the soil is determined in kg· ; ; ; ; ha-1· ; ; ; ; day-1 through the vegetation of particular crop in different soil horizons. Decomposition is based on the fresh organic matter, humus content and organic fertilizer (the function of C:N:P ratio, that is C:N and C:P, type and quantity of crop residues, pH, temperature and water in the soil). The expert model turned out very useful in calculating fertilization requirement, especially nitrogenous. Mean annual N-mineralization rate was (for three years and 5805 soil samples): 60, 95 kg N ha-1 year-1. Crop residue input, soil organic matter content and soil pH significantly influenced the N-mineralization rate.
