Mathematical Modelling of Biological Systems by SBML (Systems Biology Markup Language)
Presented is the new software concept for mathematical modeling of biological systems SBML (Systems Biology Markup Language). The main purpose of SBML is to provide standardization of mathematical models, integration with genome and proteome databases, inclusion of sophisticated numerical algorithms, and numerous possibilities for graphical presentations. Standardization enables transfer of mathematical models, data, and results between different operative systems (UNIX, Windows, etc.) and programming languages (MatLab, Mathematica, ..). Systems analysis is supported by numerical methods, such as algorithms of linear algebra, metabolic flux analysis, numerical integration, kinetic parameter estimation, stability analysis of steady states, bifurcation analysis, stochastic simulators for reactions at molecular level, and many others.
