Neuromotor, cognitive and language outcome in children with intrauterine growth retardation
Studies have shown that, relative to their peers, a statistically higher proportion of children with IUGR have neuromotor difficulties and school problems as defined by grade repetition or placement in special education programs. Children with IUGR were evaluatet and followed-up by clinical neurological examination, cranial neuroimaging, language and psychological assessment. The majority of children with IUGR had favourable outcome at preschool age, showing normal findings or minor neuromotor disorder, normal IQ and language abilities.
