Climate Change and Partnership for Croatian Tourism Development
Tourism as today's global phenomena represents one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Its connection with environment and climate, important elements for choosing destination, is unquestionable. Interconnection between tourism and climate is mutual that is tourism and climate change can be considered as a "two-way street" – climate influencing tourism and tourism influencing climate. Anthropogenic climate change is recognized as major threat to both society and the environment. For tourism to adapt and reduce detrimental impact on environment it has to focus on sustainable principles which have direct repercussion on climate change. Sustainable tourism development within globalization process is impossible without public and private sector cooperation. Partnership, built on the expertise of each partner, has a goal to raise standards, prosperity and quality of life for residents and to enable return on invested capital. Tourism climate change consequences have certain economic effects so the public and private interest is mutual cooperation in order to accept challenges that global climate change imposes.
