Measurement of soil-grid interaction in pullout
Specially equiped pullout device was developed in order to measure soil-grid interaction in pullout. Dimensions of the apparatus are 1, 9 x 0, 9 x 1, 2 m. The purpose of testing is to better understand the nature of soil-grid interaction in order to rationalize design of reinforced soil in unbound materials. Several grids in different material were tested. Specially adopted accelerometers are used to characterize velocity of transversal and shear waves when propagating reinforced soil, at different distances from the reinforcing grid. The level of interaction can be compared for different materials at different distances form grid, and it can be used to choose most proper grid for the material in use and relevant distance of grids in reinforced soil. Some results of work done are presented and the apparatus and technology of testing is described
