Extension of Generalized Traffic-in-Transport into Generalized Transport System Model
Fundamental distinctions between traffic and transport systems are discussed using general systems methodology. Recognizing at highest acceptable level of generalization the universe of discourse and couplings structures of both sets of systems, there have been identified for both sets: the traffic entity subsystems, with the appropriate adaption to the networks of traffic corridors, and the transport entity subsystems, with the appropriate adaption to the traffic entities. The adapting subsystem in traffic function adapts the traffic entity, generally recognized as a vehicle, to the network of traffic corridors: road, air, etc., producing a variety of traffic modes. The adapting subsystem in the transport function adapts the transport entity to the traffic entities for a number of respective networks of traffic corridors, producing a variety of transport modes. The traffic mode is determined, primarily, by the features of the network of traffic corridors and the types of transport entities entering the mode. The transport mode is determined, primarily, by the transport entity life time and conditions of prescribed aging of transport entities during their travel.
