Improved fire properties of concrete made with polypropylene fibres
This paper outlines the results obtained from the tests that were performed to evaluate the suitability of proposed normal-strength concrete mixtures with an addition of polypropylene fibres for secondary tunnel lining in the Croatian highway tunnel. The main stress is given to behaviour of proposed concrete mixtures in fire situations. Specimens were tested on fire loads in accordance with RWS (Rijkswaterstaat) curve, the highest requirements for tunnel structures. It is confirmed that the addition of PP fibres in concrete mixture at dosage of 1 kg/m3, sufficiently improves its fire resistance, reduces the spalling rate and occurrence of cracking in concrete elements.
