The Upper Cretaceous rudists within different parts of subtidal environment of the Adriatic carbonate platform.

On the Adriatic carbonatte platform rudist thrived exclusively in biostromes, which were in alternation with foraminiferal wackestone-packstones. From deeper to shallower parts of the subtidal environment, the biodiversity of rudists changed from rare hippuritids in deeper subtidal, over combined hippuritid-radiolitid biota, to densly packed monospecific radiolitid biostromes of the shallowest part of subtidal.
