Optimisation of Tribomechanical Systems Using Taguchi Experimental Design
In this work, three types of powder flame sprayed and fused NiCrBSi coatings, applicable to tribomechanical systems, have been investigated. They are Ni based hard alloy coatings: NiCrBSi, NiCrBSi+WC and NiCrWBSi, with high wear and corrosion resistance. Laboratory testing of cracking resistance has been carried out by three point bending, according to Ta-guchi experimental design with three control factors on three levels. The following factors were chosen in the experiment: substrate material (steels C45, 42CrMo4 and X6CrNiMo18-10-2), type of coating (Ni-CrBSi, NiCrBSi+WC and NiCrWBSi) and coating thickness (0.3, 0.5 and 0.8 mm). The first crack critical load was the response (output) factor. By the statistical analysis of the experimental data, the optimum settings of the control factors have been determined: substrate material - steel C45, type of coating - NiCrBSi+WC and coating thickness - 0.8 mm, with the highest signal to noise ratio.
