The Influence of Production-Related Macrodeformations on an Optimal Choice of Wear Inhibition Technology
For the purpose of this paper, in-depth wear resistance has been compared accross respective layers of surface-quenched C 60, cemented 16MnCr5 and hard facings of C-Cr and of C-Cr-W-Co . The specimens were examined using a friction & wear testing device consisting of a disc and a braket, in a chamber filled with oil containing SiO2. This paper emphasizes the need for additional caution when selecting an adequate wear protection technology for those machine parts that, following macrodeformation, require surface abrasion as final machining operation.
