The importance of naval ports in Republic of Croatia in the light of new international and maritime relations
Military ports are an important component of Croatia's defense system, as a maritime state. The construction and development of the defense system of Republic of Croatia is an imperative to all its citizens. Croatia is a maritime state, with its own culture, marine tradition, ports, shipyards and fishing grounds, which has, in addition to the new Maritime Code, also passed a Resolution on founding special purpose ports - military ports. Undoubtedly, if Croatia wants to have control over its internal sea, territorial waters and industrial marine belt, and it does, certain preconditions, such as passing Merchant and Military Ports Act, have to be created. Croatia also has to meet the requirements to sign the application form for admission to NATO this year, in order to strengthten its position in a very unstable region, both in political and military sense of the word.
