Compensation of camera motion with wavelets in human locomotion research
Motion of camera can produce different unwanted effects, such as blur or even shadow appearance. The consequence of motion blur can be i.e. in wrong bounding box determination for people tracking. We propose specific way of human motion tracking by 2D+T wavelet [1, 2] transform based on observations of vanishing and appearing luminance caused by vanishing or appearing light (casting shadow). If used for rehabilitation medicine and/or diagnostics or for research of human locomotion in general, the analysis can be performed on-line and offline [3, 4]. In both cases, motion of camera due to any reason must be compensated in algorithms for motion detection based on background subtraction. Not only that uncompensated motion can produce imprecise positioning, but also false edges of segmented motion can be produced.
