Analytical and experimental analysis of seismic links in eccentrically braced steel frames
Firstly this paper presents an analytical analysis and then an expetimental investigation conducted on four types of short seismic links. Those seismic links were chosen having the same cross section HEA100 and the same length, but with different number of stiffeners, i. e. with three couples of stiffeners, two, one and without any stiffener respectively. Results of analytical analysis served as a base for preparing the programme of experimental investigation. The experiments consisted of conducting four series each having four specimens of seismic links. One set of experiment was made on the full steel frame. Each of this set of experiment consist four specimens with different number of stiffeners. Remaining three sets of experiments (each having four specimens) were conducted with the auxiliary structures simulating boundary conditions for links in the real eccentrically braced steel frames. The comparison of three reliability classes RC1, RC2 and RC3 with the three consequences classes CC1, CC2 and CC3 has been done. To obtain the degree of reliability of eccentrically braced steel frame the reliability index was defined on the probabilistic level in relation to target value for the reliability classes RC1, RC2 and RC3 according to Eurocode. It has been shown that the optimum reliability index is gained for short seismic link with three pairs of web stiffeners.
