A Study on Static Voltage Stability Analysis through a Symbolic/Numeric Computation
This paper demonstrates how symbolically assisted numeric computation can be effectively used in voltage stability analysis. The paper makes use of a particular, general purpose, environment and illustrates how four specific static approaches to the voltage stability analysis can be solved. Four static voltage stability analysis approaches considered include: repetitive power flow, continuation power flows, point of collapse method, and the use of optimization procedure to determine maximum deliverable power. Considered approaches are illustrated using several test systems: simple 3-bus test system, IEEE 6-bus, 14-bus, 118-bus and 300-bus test systems. Some of the results are compared to those obtained with the help of PSAT software tool.
