THE API2-MALT1 FUSION PROTEIN WAS NOT INDUCER OF AN INDEPENDANT MECHANISM IN PATHOGENESIS OF GASTRIC MALT TYPE LYMPHOMA – REVISION OF THE PREVIOUS CASE REPORT
On 3rd Croatian Congress of Pathology and Forensic Medicine, Opatija, 2005, we presented a 46 year old male patient with gastric MALT type lymphoma. Based on negative immunohistochemical BCL10 staining of all available biopsies and FISH detection of t(11 ; 18)(q21 ; q21)/API2-MALT1, report of alternative, BCL10 independent mechanism of MALT type lymphoma development was made. On two new biopsies in the 2006, taken as a routine control of the patient, immunohistochemicaly BCL10 staining was nuclear positive, as well on repeated BCL10 staining of all previous biopsies. According to improved immunohistochemical staining and new results of BCL10 positivity, we withdraw previous case report. The patient had gastric MALT type lymphoma most probably developed by classic BCL10/MALT1 complex induction of NFκ B mechanism.
