Flame Retardancy Cotton Material – The Influence of Natural Zeolite to its Efficiancy and Comfort
Cotton and other cellulose textiles are the most flammable materials used for protective clothing. Although flammable, their protective ability and comfort makes them irreplaceable for protection clothing. This paper investigates protective properties, especially flame retardancy and UV protection, achieved with green cotton fabric ecological treatment using commercial flame retardant Apyrol CEP, with or without activated natural zeolite addition. Tribomechanical activation in patented machine results in zeolite grinding to submicron levels so that their reactive ability and biological activity is incremented several hundreds of times. Protective, comfort and fabric properties were determined after treatment and washing applying standard methods.
