Characterization of Cu-Al-Ni shape memory alloys
Structural transformation of shape memory alloys (SMAs) is responsible for their shape memory effect. Microstructure and phase transformation of Cu-13Al-4Ni-0, 035B alloy are investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) methods. The starting and finishing temperatures of phase transformation are determined. Phases beta1´ and beta1 are observed by XRD method. Temperature hysteresis ( T=Af-Ms) is 33°C.
