Dynamic analysis of concrete gravity dam

The nonlinear analysis of concrete gravity dam to earthquake ground motion, including hydrodynamic interaction and cracking of concrete, is presented. The analysis has been based on the substructure concept in which the water and dam-rock-fundation system are treated as two substructures. The coupling occurs via the interface which takes account of the forces interacting. Water is assumed to be ilinear compressible and its internal viscosity is neglible. A special material model for concrete is presented. Model is capable to take account opening and closing of cracks, tensile stiffening, shear stress transfer and yielding of concrete in compression.
