Comparison of high accuracy levelling survey acchieved with digital and classical levelling instruments – Practical experience
The work presents the results of surveying and analysing of the levelling line that was used in 1997 for connecting fundamental national height networks of the geometric levelling established in the Republic Hungary and the Republic Croatia. The levelling line was double surveyed that has been done mutually independently using digital and classical levelling instruments and appropriate accessories. The survey of levelling line was repeated because of lack of experience in working with modern digital instruments for the purpose of obtaining high accuracy geometric levelling. The survey results have provided comparative observation data needed for defining the quality of performed field works, i.e. for determining, comparison and analysis of achieved measurement accuracy, as well as for acquiring the insight into the influence of systematic effects. The comparison of measurement data and of obtained accuracies has indicated a significant concordance in the quality of performed works with both types of instruments. The application of digital instruments has shown the presence of linear systematic influences that are proportional with the levelling line length. It is presumed that the probable reason for their appearance is connected with the procedure of simulating measurements with double levelling staff scales, although pseudo-coded levelling staves have actually only one scale.
